Not a consultancy, we don’t make any difference, we just smile, say ‘yes of course’ and invoice

Capco Response

We are disappointed to read your feedback. Capco is a leading global consultancy that offers value to a large range of financial services clients and we proudly partner with some of the largest financial institutions around the world. We routinely win business against much larger consultancies, and we have had strong and sustained grow in recent years, expanded our geographic footprint and secured our position as an independent firm. We could not have accomplished this without establishing strong relationships with our clients. Capco is one of the few companies who regularly review and openly respond to the feedback on Glassdoor. We do this because we understand that we can become a better employer and offer our people an even more rewarding career and experience. In recent years we have made changes to our performance management platform, training agenda, recruitment processes and leadership development amongst other things, directly in response to the feedback we have received. If you are dissatisfied with your project or current job role, we strongly encourage you to reach out to your coach or local HR Leader to discuss.

Pros

Excellent work community. Excellent benefits. Work-life balance.

Cons

Capco is a client facing management consultancy so be ready to perform at all times. Senior consultant level and above can be on multiple projects over a course of a year. Smaller pay jumps for promotion than what you would get negotiating a salary at time of hire. Company needs to focus on pay retention and not pay to hire.

One of the things that positively differentiates Capco from other firms is our focus on recognising talent and accelerating progression. For this reason we do not apply a restrictive ‘time in grade’ barrier to promotions but look to advance people once they are meeting the expectations of the next grade. To ensure promotions are fair, however, we complement our focus on progression with country, region and firm-wide roundtables and reviews that ensure there is broad parity between the general speed and number of promotion in the different grades, in the different businesses and locations across the firm. We also have a facility for anyone not comfortable with the way their performance has been assessed to raise issues or questions on a rating or promotion. It is a testament to the quality of our performance assessment and roundtable process that this is rarely necessary.

Capco is always looking to improve the experience of our staff and recruits. We encourage those with comments to raise issues and suggestions in good time so we get a chance to act on them, in this case, you have chosen not to do so. It is not clear as to what is meant by the sinister reference to %E2%80%98work with females%E2%80%99 but it is unsubstantiated and we can assure you we don%E2%80%99t understand what is meant and there have been no similar references from any other source. We are clear, however, that any change in leadership in a business creates uncertainty and necessitates re-engaging with our people and rebuilding their trust and confidence. This case is no exception. Thankfully, the process is already underway and it will intensify in the coming days and weeks. People will see real activity to build a strong emotional connection with the firm, including clear communication of our priorities and the contribution each of us can make to their achievement. We believe strongly that the changes we have put in place in our leaders and more broadly will make the business successful and deliver growth. Ironically, we also believe that this success will create the very opportunities, career development and culture to which you refer. We are the start of a challenging but exciting time for Capco in Hong Kong, and we urge all other staff to work with the new leaders, support the changes underway and take advantage of the opportunities and progression that a successful Capco will generate
