Pros

Compensation, benefits, outside work, knowing that I am giving the sole responsibility on a daily basis to achieve a certain task and goals. The pay is probably the best in the industry and you can't beat the workplace atmosphere., especially if you have a rural route where you get to see alot of the country. UPS pays for our health and welfare ang generally the coverage is good. It is one of the only jobs I know of where you are giving a set amount of work at 9 am and told to git-r-done and do not have to watch the clock till 5 pm. You run your route and when your finished (sometimes after 9pm) you take it home.

Cons

Long hours, very demanding goals, hard to get days off , or get off early for family events such as childrens programs, graduations, an occasional childs sporting event ect.

Pros

Security, market leader, great brand, it is great if you want a job where you only have to do what you are told and not think for yourself. Cameraderie

Cons

Tremendous pressure to meet numbers. Big Brother is watching you at all times. Micromanagement. Cultural acceptance of mediocrity. Corporate humility is great as a community citizen, but not as a public company. Do not manage investor relations well at all. Gong public was the worst thing that ever happened to UPS. Management used to be very focused on five years down the line but now focused on current stock price.

Pros

Good benefits and vacation time. Pension plan is a major benefit as most major companies don't have a pension plan. UPS can be very flexible depending on the type of job you hold with them. Solid job security as long as you are doing your job. UPS does not typically lay off their management staff and has shown loyalty to their management team.

Cons

Challenging workload, overbearing corporate culture. UPS is affected by the current state of the economy. Sometimes the managers at UPS are not always the best because UPS has been the only company they have ever worked for and they don't realize what real life is like outside of UPS.
