Pros

Flexible work schedule, generally very motivating and engaging.

Cons

Not all Starbuck's are the same and held to the highest standards. Finding a manager who appreciates high standards and a good work ethic is sometimes difficult. For the most part i have been lucky in this aspect but have definitely had and seen challenging working environments for myself and others.

Pros

I started working there while in High School and Starbucks (especially my store) was very flexible with my hours. I ended up only working 15 hours, or so, during the school year. Its working out great for me and I'm still working there. The pay is good. Although you start at minimum wage ($8 where I live, was $7.70 when I started 1.5 years ago) you get a raise every 6 months. You get a bigger raise for better performance (your overall review 'score' falls into 1 of 3 categories, which dictate how much your raise is). Also you get benefits at 20 hours, ability to purchase stock (why we're called partners) and tips.

Cons

It's stressful. People want their coffee done in as little time as possible and most get angry when things slow down. Starbucks Upper management is cutting labor, which means we get less people for a certain amount of money we make than we did before. Before this happened we were already stretched thin, now its downright horrible. The 6 month reviews are narrow. Although they cover all aspects of your job, they are bunched together into categories which can hurt you in the end. Also each of the 8 categories can only be rated 3 ways

Pros

It's a job I can leave behind when I leave work. When I come home I don't have to think about it. It is also fast paced, which I enjoy. Also the management team listens to my opinion. I feel that my voice is heard and that I have a stake in how well the store does. Also, the people that I work with are great and very fun to work with. Over all it is a very enjoyable place to work. I would recommend this job to people.

Cons

Customer sevice is not an area I enjoy...people often view the person behind the counter as stupid.
