Pros

Working at Sephora, you will learn something new everyday. You cannot get bored with your work, as it is ever changing. The company is an industry leader in a thriving industry, creating a strong sense of Job security. As an employee on any level, your personal, and professional development are important to the leadership above you. Most importantly, the values-based foundation the company exists on keeps the company from ever straying away from what is most important; always doing whats best for both its external, and internal client.

Cons

Because of the strong work ethic and dedication it takes to succeed in this fast paced, ever-changing environment, you can lose sight of your work/life balance fairly easily.

Pros

Sephora is a great way to gain knowledge about the beauty industry. It really is all about how hard you try. You won't get a ton of training, so you kind of have to teach yourself if you want to be really successful, but if you're a beauty junkie, it's a great place to be. Work/life balance for me was great, but I had a great relationship with my manager.

Cons

Retail is just a tough place to be for a life-long career because they expect so much out of you with little compensation. You will almost always have crazy hours and you deal with unappreciative customers constantly. It's a pretty good place to be if you're in retail though.

Pros

Fairly decent pay for non management positions especially if you have experience Lots of gratis from different brands

Cons

HOURS! If the store doesn't make budget then hours get cut. If you have monthly bills and need steady hours then this may be a problem. One week working 35 hours and the next barely 20 causes a lot of stress on cast members. Also Store Director spends more time backstage and in "one on one's" and meetings than they do on stage. Leads delegate and watch your every move but don't have to help customers when they are DIC.
