Review of CAPCO

Pros

Working at CAPCO has been a great experience. Having worked elsewhere in the consulting arena, I can say with confidence that CAPCO really does have a unique and great culture. The people are open and collaborative. The mindset of the company is not weighed done by the heirarchy of larger organisations. The motivations of the business and people are very much about doing the right thing for clients, and as a result the client logos and type of work really stand out.

Cons

There are no real cons to working at CAPCO. It is certainly different to the larger consulting players and thus people need to be able to embrace and enjoy that difference.

Thank you for your great review, and we're delighted to have you on-board. It's great to hear that having worked in larger consulting firms, you appreciate what Capco has to offer to employees, and value the opportunities afforded by working in a smaller consulting organization. Thanks for your contribution to the Capco team!

Pros

Good opportunity to network within many different organizations that you're placed at; if you want to be exposed to many financial institutions, especially if you're junior, this is good for you

Cons

Not strictly consulting, sometimes you're a butt in a seat Lots of pressure to get involved in internal events but feels very cliquey Consultant role is very broad, and you can feel stuck in this band (anywhere from 2 years experience to 7+); compensation feels unfair HR group is not helpful or interested

While we are pleased to read that you enjoyed the focus on financial services, and the benefits this provided, we are disappointed to read your other comments. In particular, your comments around being unable to progress to the next level are counter to other reviews on this forum which talk about the opportunities to progress at Capco, and counter to the reality of the firm. Our 'no time in grade' policy means that employees can progress quickly to the next level if they are performing for a sustained period at the level above. This is supported by 6-monthly review cycles, and a robust performance management process. While we encourage employees to expand their network in the firm, and provide the option for them to get involved in the Capco community there is never any requirement to do so. In fact we launched a new performance management framework in 2017 to enable employees to choose where they want to focus their efforts by providing greater transparency around the evaluation process. If anyone feels that they are not getting the support they require from HR, then they should speak with our Global HR Director regarding their specific concerns.

Pros

+Nice office in downtown NY - Manhattan I really struggle to find anything good to say.... there is just nothing. I have only been here so long, because i had special circumstances that made it okay.

Cons

-Bad leadership -Bad organization and structure -Horrible culture -Bad projects Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. There are major systemic problems at this company that cannot and will not be fixed anytime soon. I dont even think they are being considered as problems. Staffing is done without regards to individual skillets and/or progression of the person. Most projects are under horrible circumstances (Traveling fees only partially covered, Client does not want consultants there, Client just rude in general, Incredibly under- or overstaffed, totally wrong skillets on projects, internal power struggles within Capco, No leadership or proper management on project, No kind of "airsupport" when necessary, etc.). I have seen other consultancies, and this is just a worse case. Especially on the lower grades (AO/CO) the churn is just incredibly high because of the overall bad situation.

We are disappointed to read your review. We take great care in determining staffing assignments to find the best possible fit for each employee. It is an engaging and interactive process, so we encourage you to share your interests and utilize our mobility app to explore available roles. While we can’t always accommodate every request, we do make it a priority to try to place people in roles where they can be successful. Regarding travel expenses, we have a comprehensive and competitive reimbursement policy. Please reach out to your HR Business Partner for more details, as we want to ensure that you understand the policy. If you are struggling on a client project, please reach out to your Project Manager, Client Partner or HR Business Partner. We solicit feedback often in various different forums, and want you to know that you have leadership support. Capco and our people have been successful across a broad spectrum of client projects, and are highly respected by our clients. If you need any support, please do reach out.
