Pros

Salary is at, or slightly above, market rate Office has free soft drinks and good coffee machine

Cons

Very reliant on a couple of clients in Scotland No USP or methodology - rely on hiring smart people and selling them to clients at profit Senior Management do not set good example - favouritism rife and management always side with client to protect revenue No opportunity to specialise Professional Qualifications not encouraged Feels very like a recruitment firm, not true Consultancy

Thank you for your review, although we are sorry to read your comments as a former Capco employee. As one of Capco’s newer offices, the team has been focused on partnerships with a number of core clients. However, our list of clients is growing all the time, and as part of our UK region and a global firm, the team is able to leverage the knowledge and experience of the wider organization as required. With regards to learning and development, there is support available for external qualifications and we would recommend that employees speak with their coach and get in contact with our Learning and Development team if this is something they are keen to pursue. Finally, we would encourage all employees to share their feedback, suggestions and raise any specific concerns through one of our internal channels including HR, Coach, Manager or a member of the leadership team.

Pros

Lots of community activities and chances to connect with colleagues if that's what you want Hires from many different backgrounds so you get a diverse team

Cons

A lot of people lack core consulting skills and knowledge, those who excel usually leave the company within a short time Community contribution is valued over project work in performance management, leading to people spending more time trying to network and socialize instead of delivering actual work

At Capco, we hire talented individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including banking and consulting. All employees are able to take advantage of our extensive training curriculum which includes core consulting schools at each level as well as coaching and on-the-job learning. We launched a new approach to performance management in 2017, which provides greater transparency around how individuals are assessed both in their day-to-day role and for any additional community activities they may choose to undertake. This approach together with stakeholder feedback and roundtables helps to ensure fairness and clarity in our process. In addition, employee feedback from our recent people survey has led to further career development opportunities in the region including career management and sales training as well as a greater focus on upward feedback.

We understand that retaining and attracting talent to the firm is the best way of maintaining our rapid growth. Growing faster than our competition is the strongest job security but on top of that Capco offers a very competitive package, including pay and flexibility but also career development and progression. Similarly, we recognise that flexibility is very important to attract and retain talent and we are keen to sponsor different types of working arrangements in the firm. If you want to work more flexibly, we encourage you to discuss this with your manager and we will try to respond positively (subject to the needs of the business and fairness in the team). Lots of people are already working flexibly in Capco. Finally we have clear management structure in place. Every staff member has a line manager who is accountable for setting tasks and managing performance and a coach who will take the lead on your development and career planning. If you are not happy with the structure in place at the moment, I encourage you to raise this either with your manager or coach or, if the issue is still not resolved to your satisfaction, with your HR contact. Our business is based on the skills and engagement of our people, that is why we pay well and offer challenging and rewarding careers but also why we look to supplement this with secure employment, options to work flexibly and supportive management.
