Pros

It's easy to apply and simple to join, once your in the company it is easy to transition, it is a lot of work to learn everything you need to know but well worth it once you do. It is easy to transfer stores if you move. The pay is pretty decent in that Sunday is 1.5x and Bank Holidays are 2x. Which is very good in comparison to other retailers. It is also quite easy to move up the proverbial ladder if you know what you're doing.

Cons

There is very little recognition for a job well done, you could be outstanding in 2 or 3 fields (departments) and never get noticed despite your dedication to the company just because you have a small hourly contract, but the fact that you do the job better than anybody else is irrelevant because you're only working for a small about of time each week. Also, you don't get specific bonuses or recognition once you've worked there for more than 2 years, which most employees don't make.

Pros

For those looking for a career, a number of programs exist to develop internal talent. Flexible hours, 20% staff discount, up to 10% monthly store team bonus, good basic wages and time and a half on Sundays are also positive aspects of the job. Commission is also available for those who work on the showrooms department (threshold changes but it's essentially extra money for doing your job!).

Cons

Management very stressed when targets not hit (same as anywhere). Lack of communication between fulfillment center and stores can sometimes mean angry customers as deliveries haven't been sent out. Overtime can sometimes be restricted if not banned all together. Larger stores can be territorial, with staff on one department not helping somebody on another.
