I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Apr 2012
Interview
I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter the next day via email. We set up a phone interview where she asked me some basic behavioral questions. The next round was also a phone interview since I was out of the country-- everyone was very accommodating. This interview was with a Human Resources representative and it was five questions. This went well, and I was told the last round would be with the District Leader for the area in which I wanted to work. Again, all behavioral questions. This position is a training to be come a Store Executive, and I was told that Target expects to offer that position after the internship. When it came out during my last interview that I still have two more years of school before graduation, the process came to a grinding halt. But overall, the interview experience was a positive one, everyone I talked to seemed excited about their jobs and this job, and I would apply again in the future.

Question 1
Describe the most difficult person you've had to motivate.
The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Target (College Park, MD) in Feb 2012
Interview
The interview process started with a brief personality test that was sent to me via e-mail when they confirmed my phone interview slot. They asked for me to fill this out prior to my phone screen. The phone screen from the HR recruiter happened about a week after the initial contact. She asked basic behavioral questions such as "Tell me about a time when you took on a leadership role" or "Tell me about a time when you had to deal with confrontation". Very basic questions. Target seeks for leadership capabilities and asks questions to highlight those skills.
I was then asked to meet with the District Manager who asked me a lot of the same behavioral questions but also more about my future plans etc. This is where they really wanted to see a passion to grow with Target.
Everyone during the interview process was very nice which made the process enjoyable.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you took on a leadership position at school or in a group project. What was the outcome?
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target in Oct 2011
Interview
It was very systematic. Other interviews have been more of a conversation whereas with Target just read straight from their list of questions. Can't say I was very impressed. I felt like they weren't really listening to what I had to say, just reading and recording.
Other than that the questions were pretty straight forward. Why do you want to work at Target? Tell me about a time when you did something wrong and how you fixed it? Behavioral questions like that were of the norm.
One thing to look out for is that they will ask after every question what it is that you learned from that experience.
