It was quite thorough the whole interview process, in particular the business case requires at least some preliminary understanding of financial statement analysis. Apart from that, everything else sort of assesses your personality
I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Standard Chartered Bank (Johannesburg) in Mar 2013
Interview
Initial communication: I registered online and took the psychometric analysis tests until March 2013. At that point, I was informed that I had passed that stage and would be through to the telephonic interview.
The telephonic interview, outsourced to and conducted by, a company in Chennai. Questions: 1. "Tell us about a time when you had to work with someone with a differing opinion?" 2. "Tell us about a time when you excelled under pressure" 3. "Tell us about a time when you had to overcome adversity"
ADVICE: Be clear with your answer, keep it short but be able to elaborate. Show how you managed your time, show how you managed the people you worked with - BOTH VERY KEY!
After this interview, it was onto the face-to-face interviews. The first of three entailed a group session and an individual interview with a panel of 3. The second of which was with one of the Business Heads. The third of which was with two people from the team that I would potentially be joining at the end of the program.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Standard Chartered Bank (Shenzhen, Guangdong) in Feb 2011
Interview
Online application (an integrated capability test and a personalilty test), Telephone interviews (testing English sufficiency), Group interview (group discussion in 10), and Assessment Center (two interviewers, one HR and one business head). The IG program does not sponsor working visa so you have to submit your application where you have working permits.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked to analyze the annual report of the bank and talk about its future strategies in AC interview. Being unfamiliar with banking industry by the time of interview really caused me troubles, but I believe the interviewers were more interested in my logical thinking and basic business acuments.
