High turnover and office politics overshadow minor benefits
Pros
- Some colleagues/stakeholders are okay. - AL is not bad, although some banks do offer more. - Hybrid arrangement is possible. - Location is fine and not too crowded, but parking can be an issue when it rains.
Cons
- Very high turnover and layoffs. You can tell by how often they have open positions for the same roles/teams. Feels like they’re hiding behind the “big bank” name. - Office politics are out of hand. - Biased management/leads. Good luck getting promoted, getting increments, or even securing a good starting salary if you’re not favoured. - The workload is often bad, with high expectations. Sometimes the direction changes too drastically, which makes some of your effort feel wasted. - Job security is very questionable, and most employees don’t seem too happy. I guess it depends on which department you join, but it’s not worth the gamble, especially if you’re coming from a good company.
