Pros

Not a lot of positives other than the fact that I met some great people as a result of working there. MY immediate supervisor was great and had recently been promoted from t-bay. In fact the people from t-bay (the training area) were by far the BEST employees and supervisors there. Hands down! If there were on the production floor, I (and a host of others) believed that they could change the atmosphere. I will say that this location does not put you through a long waiting period before hiring (or not hiring) a prospective employee, as a lot of other companies will do. If you have the time to interview (provided you pass the assessments), you can leave with an answer that same day.

Cons

As a heads up to a prospective employee, just know what you are getting into. I believe in full disclosure. The interviewer will tell you that its an inbound customer service call center position. Please be aware that the VAST majority of the customers calling in are calling because there is a problem with their bill and before you get a word out, they are already chewing your head off. I have pretty thick skin, so that did not bother me as much as the fact that there is virtually no appreciation for the agents, so there is nothing to counter the attacks you receive from the customers. Employee appreciation is virtually non-existent! Additionally, a lot of your job performance is based on surveys from the customer, so if you don't give that same angry customer what they want (mostly credits on their bill), when/if that call for a survey comes...you guessed it! Two failed surveys? Write up! I understand that there have to be some sort of metrics in place, but this place takes the cake! The way they manage is insulting. If an agent is on call too long, the entire building gets an e-pop from management with your name stating that "XYZ has been on a call too long, Can someone please help him/her, or XYZ has been on break for 13 minutes, can someone please locate him/her"? and it continues. I am not arguing the need to address situations, but I am arguing the fact that the ENTIRE workforce needs to know about what is going on with an employee. Why not just the employee and his/her supervisor?? The new manager seems like a drill sergeant and because this site historically had low rankings, he was brought in to "crack the whip". The only problem is that they have not changed their hiring practices to be more selective with who they hire. As a result, the production floor is a ghetto mess and you feel like you are in a high school classroom. The work ethic of some of these folks is very poor (to say the least), so the attitudes are poor and the turnover rate is high.

Pros

Great initial sales training. Was a terrific company when teams were more regional. Had lots of success for many years.

Cons

Company is shifting gears in 2016. Many changes have caused good people to be let go, or to leave. Used to be more of an in-person team company leading to valuable relationships and strong sales teams.

Pros

Attractive benefits program. Work/life balance is usually respected if you are firm about it, with some exceptions like any job. The company-supplied desktop/laptop computers and telephones are decent. Decent cubicle furniture. Grounds, elevators and vending machines are maintained. The network is fast. VPN works well. Printers and copiers are always in peak condition. Video conferencing around the world works well. The Rochester campus has the upper tier cafeteria service from AVI (Webster is another story). Corporate ethics are a high priority. The company contributes to many charitable causes.

Cons

Pay is at the low end of the scale. When you go from contract to hire, your pay will go down. Raises are non-existent or less than cost-of-living. Bonuses are unheard of unless you're in sales or executive positions. Have to submit yearly blood tests to prove non-smoker status or pay extra for health insurance. Parking in downtown Rochester, NY costs $$, not an issue in Webster, NY. Webster is all converted factory spaces and has almost no natural daylight anywhere. You may never actually meet your boss in person due to the global nature of the company. Aging employee base, at least the ones in the US. The older men and women say things like "You're too young to work here. Don't rock the boat, I'm five years away from retirement. You're just a kid, you'll understand someday. I'm too old to learn anything new." People who have poor Office skills are frequently in charge of meetings, so you sit on Webex and watch people who earn way more than you struggle with the one suite of programs they should know how to use for their job. Outsourced a lot of IT to India, so you have to understand their cultural idiosyncrasies to understand why it takes 5 layers of approvals and 1 week of waiting to get a ticket resolved on a server. Poor project management leads to multiple-year revolving-door (at both Xerox and external vendors) projects ending in failure or too many compromises to be proud of the resulting final product, where all still-employed people who worked on it may wind up in a production support role for months or years in addition to their regular jobs. Averse to using any software released within the past several years, causing IT to frequently have to support end-of-life products for years.
