Pros

When I started, there was a work-life balance. You can still have flexible work hours, or work from home, but there's no balance. There is room for advancement, but only because they're laying off all the people above you.

Cons

Layoffs happen every quarter. They lay off the people who know what they're doing, and then wonder why things don't get done. They told salaried employees to get used to "mandatory overtime." There's no sense behind it. The numbers have to look good for that quarter, and it doesn't matter if that means furloughing the people needed to get the work done.

Pros

- When you work at Xerox, and you're interested in moving, the company has positions internationally. You might be able to transfer, depending on your division. - They are ALWAYS hiring, and if you get an interview, you are 90% likely to get a job. - If you are looking to pick up lots of hours, this is definitely the place!

Cons

-Terrible pay (my division averaged 8.75 an hour) for the work required. Technically, they were on an incentive pay, meaning you could make up to 10.50/hour, but there was always a catch, and the 10.50 was rarely paid out. - No chance for advancement; there were four layers in my division, and a lateral promotion with no raise in pay was the best you could do. - According to upper management, company policy is that you have no choice in your schedule or work hours. Overtime is mandatory is many divisions, and if you are in college, you might not be able to work here. They are not flexible with scheduling in the least. - Terrible personnel relations. I was sexually harassed several times, and upper management did nothing about it. There were physical fights and weapons brought in. These issues were not addressed by upper management. According to them, company policy was stricter on attendance than anything else, and they were too overworked dealing with all the people calling out.

Pros

Great people, competitive products. Great training. Good work environment. Opportunity to be promoted. Decent pay.

Cons

Xerox provides a commodity service and often prices themselves right out of the business. Contractually hard to do business with. The stock prices haven't moved much above $10.00 due to the lack of shareholder confidence and poor analysts forecasts. Xerox needs to use their resources to diversify their offerings and enter into new non-conventional markets or consider a merger with one of the other copier giants and rule the market. Unfortunately when Xerox is not going to meet their Wall Street projections, they often cut their overhead and operating costs by laying off tenured and very loyal employees. That action sets a bad tone for those who remain employed and sets an ongoing fear factor that they might be next. Layoffs now occur during each quarter of the year. The company is always in a re-active mode.
