Pros

Good equipment, better than average talent and a very high profile customer. You get to work in Azure and use fairly new things on most projects and a few of the projects are doing some real interesting work. Great location if you are near downtown KC. The upper management are doing some really awesome things with the company and try very hard to communicate and when you pass them in the hall they know who you are. They have regular "town hall" style meetings to try and be transparent and keep everyone on the same page with whats going on. They genuinely feel like they care about staff and the world around them despite how swamped they probably are.

Cons

Next to no work life balance. It feels like when the big client asks for something its an automatic yes no matter if its realistic or not. Very reactionary and not so proactive with planning so as a result most of the engineers work 50-80 hours a week for periods that are several months long, most of the time with small breaks in between. To reward you for this effort you get a 3 or 4 day weekend. What good is the "Unlimited PTO" when you cant even get nights and weekends off? Sleep deprivation is almost guaranteed here. Depending on which project you are on, it might feel like you are a valued team member and things are run openly and transparent or you may end up feeling like you are micro-managed, siloed, and no one listens to anything you say and any improvements you suggest are met with sharp criticism and defensive threatened responses and you have no support or access so the tasks you are given feel impossible to complete. Project to project nothing is consistent and it feels like changing jobs every time you change projects because things are that different between them.

The Best IT Consulting Company I've worked for!

Pros

Valorem is a great place to work! For all of the negative reviews that are on this site I just have to say that you get out what you put in. Valorem is on the bleeding edge of Microsoft products and technology. The sky is the limit for your ability to learn new things. Working for this company will expose you not to the products and solutions that companies have been using but the ones they will be using in the years to come. Valorem has had some growing pains but has done has done a good job adjusting and correcting issues. Like my title says this is the best consulting company i have worked for.

Cons

A lot of the major issues that have occurred over the last year can be directly attributed to a senior development manager that is no longer with the company. That person showed a lot of potential early on but proved to be completely unfit for any kind of management or supervisor position. That person technically led the company down the path of over-complicating things that didn't need to be complicated which led to many people having to work much harder to complete projects. Since that person left things have turned around greatly and the overall moral of the company has gone up considerably.

Pros

Location central to a lot of local site attactractions, good restaurants nearby, on public transportation route if needed.

Cons

A go no place of employment, input is not valued, the feedback on here about getting along with managers is a single person who runs around talking about any one and every one.
