The talented people are not empowered to make decisions to fully and completely move a transaction to completion. "I'm not authorized to do that" is a common phrase. This causes customer service related issues as the customer suffers waiting for Univar to figure out how to pull their head out and complete simple transactions. New sales bonus program designed to incentivize sales people to have to stay a full year to get their whole bonus. Meanwhile lack of products available for delivery is causing customers to seek other options to get their products making the ability to actually achieve sales goals and achieve bonus a very difficult proposition. Internal frustration and morale are horrible.
