Pros

In my opinion, the best things about CognoLink are the learning and the people interaction (both internally, but moreso externally). Working here gives you the opportunity to learn about markets and industries you didn't even know existed. You have the opportunity to hone your communication skills (by email, phone, and in person) with clients (high level hedge funds and private equity firms) and with industry experts at the highest level (you'll talk to c-levels of major public companies). Furthermore, as a relatively young company you can move forward exceptionally quickly (with the right amount of drive and effort, of course). The company is primarily composed of self-motivated 20-somethings who like work hard as individuals and as a company, play hard, and have a good time.

Cons

The work is dynamic and changes constantly, which is a plus, but I hear that some people find it can get monotonous because at a very basic level you're doing about the same thing every day (surely not unique to CognoLink). The hours can be long (not i-banking long, but not public sector either), and a strong emphasis is placed on being self-energized. People who do not do well at CognoLink are not extroverted, not motivated enough, and most importantly not willing to go the extra mile.

Pros

Learning is at the core of the company's business and culture - not only do you get relevant training as you develop in your role but you also have an incredible amount of exposure to the world's most sophisticated investors, industry executives and global thought leaders as teachers. All roles from Analyst to Account Manager provide an unmatched opportunity to learn about the international markets and the forces that drive them by talking to people in decision making positions from across sectors, industries and geographies. The team is made of very similarly minded people with extensive international experience (studies, work and travel) and a shared ambition of growing with the firm. This creates an empowering atmosphere of collaboration where you get a real chance to shine and showcase your best abilities allowing for a fast career progression as CognoLink continues to expand.

Cons

Not so much the "cons" per se, but rather a bit of a heads up on what to expect - the dynamic work environment requires putting in extra effort and energy when needed and calls for a certain level of personal drive; being a self-starter most certainly helps. An inquisitive mind is also an asset in any research role just as much as advanced people skills - you will be communicating a lot with clients, specialists and colleagues and you most literally can't shy away from it.

Pros

- If you do well here, you have the opportunity to move quickly within the company - Young company and lots of fun to work at. I enjoy coming to work every day, which is rare amongst recent college grads - Exposure to senior executives in a wide variety of industries. Every day I am on the phone with C-level people - Gain amazing communications skills. After a month here, you will be able to call anyone in the world and sound intelligent on the phone.

Cons

- Hours can be long. As our client base is very demanding, you have to be able to step up to the plate to meet the challenges that arise. - Work can be repetitive at times - Very fast paced environment. You will always have something to do and will be busy all day
