Pros

The New York office of CognoLink is showing such aggressive growth that it's almost impossible not to be inspired by the opportunities for new employees. Senior management is practically begging for people to prove themselves and get promoted to help with the overall goals of expanding the business and building new teams and products. Everyone is willing to help however they can in order to ensure your success - it really does feel like a team sport. The work environment is always high-energy, and although stressful at times (due to deadlines, client demands, managing your workload), generally very fun. Relaxed senior management help the research staff see the bigger issue, stressing important factors (such as adherence to compliance standards) over day-to-day fire alarm situations. The exposure you receive to different clients, specialists (include C-level executives at many of the largest corporations worldwide), and cultural differences (given CognoLink's offices in New York, New Delhi, Shanghai and Hong Kong) is definitely a selling point. After 1 year at CognoLink, you will be able to talk to anyone about anything.

Cons

Due to the growing nature of the company, the work-life balance has not yet been achieved. Given the number of clients CognoLink is currently supporting, the research staff is nearly constantly spread thin. Although there is a performance metric in place tied directly to monthly bonuses, the research staff is still largely underpaid.

Pros

- The company is going through steady and aggressive growth - Tangible ways to assess the impact you're having on the company, regardless of the role - Based on the above, plenty of opportunity to move up in the company as a young professional - Open communication and horizontal dynamics within the team - Daily and ongoing collaboration with colleagues in other continents - Exposure to a fascinating client base - Exposure to top notch professionals across all imaginable (and unimaginable) industries

Cons

- Given the rapid growth CognoLink is going through, trial periods, changes and adjustments, and timing for these may seem odd at times

Pros

- Exciting growth opportunities and very little red tape. Senior Management is transparent and keen on making this an enjoyable and rewarding place to work. - Company hires people who are intelligent, ambitious and outgoing. All have the pedigree to work in or come from banking/consulting, but choose to explore a more entrepreneurial career path. - Culture is, overall, positive. People are competitive and hard-working, but equally supportive and easygoing. Thursday happy hours are great! - No petty politics that plague similar organizations. Employees are measured by their daily performance and long-term contributions, not by how much face time they put in with senior management. - Strong emphasis on ethics, integrity and high-quality client service at each level of the business. - Client base is comprised of some of the world's most sophisticated investment firms who rely on CognoLink for their projects. You learn a great deal from working with them.

Cons

- Some internal decisions feel rushed. Growth is exciting, but often comes at the expense of last-minute changes and trial and error processes that can create confusion and stress on the ground. - Hours are pretty long. Also, need to be on on email at all times given urgent client requests and assignments that can come up at any minute. - Certain training modules could use a refresher to be more closely aligned with the needs of our growing client base. Further employee development would be very encouraged.
