Pros

Amazing partners at store level - dedicated driven, passionate at barista, shift supervisor, assistant manager and store manager level.

Cons

Sr. leadership does not walk the talk for servant leadership - applies to store level partners only - District Managers are made to lower their partner reviews to fit into specific number of excellent or average or below average - limited growth to motivate store managers.

Pros

They have great benefits, such as health insurance, 401(K), and Bean stock. Starbucks gives you a certain amount of money for you to invest in stocks or to add it to your 401(K). Being employed at Starbucks give you certain perks such a free drinks and 1 free food for each shift you work. Starbucks also has a more versatile uniform option now, which allows partners to have different colored dyed hair. Also, depending on the people at your store you tend to make a lot of work friends.

Cons

Some of the cons at working at Starbucks is the long hours depending what time your store closes. Some stores close as late as 11:00 p.m, while there are some twenty-four hours. Another con is that they do not tell you that if you close you will be cleaning A LOT. One of your responsibilities as a barista is to clean your store before you close, this means you have to sweep, mop, wash dishes, and clean drains. If you are an individual who does not like labor such as this, I highly do not recommend this job.

Pros

Fun, fast paced, engaging, compassionate company that constantly seeks to find new ways to reward employees at all levels. Retail rightly comes first and corporate roles exist solely to support retail operations.

Cons

The recent election brought some really distasteful partisan politics with the incoming CEO making some very discouraging public statements about the elected president. There is a reason Starbucks is often viewed as the symbol of liberalism and unfortunately, the company has embraced this mantra alienating conservative customers and employees. I admire the company's embrace of LGBTQ equality but holding an annual ceremony to lower the American flag and replace it with the gay rights flag is kind of offensive. Consider putting up some shorter flag poles for these types of displays and reserve the tall flag pole solely for the American flag.
