Pros

Great benefits. Starbucks is a company you can be proud to work for. Highest standards for coffee sourcing, roasting and delivery to customers. Strong emphasis on values, customer service, community involvement and taking care of employees.

Cons

Company claims to emphasize work/life balance, but this is very difficult to maintain at Store Manager level and above. Leadership role really requires a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week commitment. Be prepared to be called in to work at any time. Must be able to work most holidays, evenings and weekends, as these are peak times.

Pros

Nice selection of office decor.

Cons

High achievement not a marker for success. Ineffectual and unknowledgable senior management. "Cliques" High school mentality. Low pay for most.

Pros

The benefits. Good insurance and free drinks & coffee. Reasonably flexible hours, but less so now than before.

Cons

Upper management is in a panic about the economic downturn and is making poor snap decisions. Labor is being slashed beyond reason. The company talks out of both sides of it's mouth, promoting "respect & dignity" while continually decreasing the work/life balance.
