Pros

Depending on your manager, good work-life balance. In a systems job, you have plenty of opportunity to work remotely.

Cons

Career advancement based on who you know versus job productivity and expertise. Career development is non-existent. Company does not pay close to market rates. External hire will probably take a position level hit when coming to Starbucks. For example, if you are a manager at your current job, then you will probably start in a senior-level position at Starbucks.

Pros

If you are a regular employee (a "partner" to SBUX), the benefits package is top-notch and the work-life balance is preached and practiced. This really is a 9-5 culture. As a full-time, long-term contract employee, or "CW," I am treated not exactly as a second-class citizen but the gap between regular empoyees and CWs is vast. From what I have been able to observe, regular employees are given opportunities to develop professionally and work in other groups. Pay seems pretty good, though I am speaking as a contractor and have general notions of what regular employees earn.

Cons

Very chaotic right now with the leadership changes and new executive-driven initiatives. Too much reactionary work and not enough strategy-driven projects.
