      Pros

      Providing you are aggressive and a political animal you will do well - opportunities will open up to you very quickly. Great development resources provided from international network support. Aggresive in wanting to be the best international bank in China. Room and support for creative solutions

      Cons

      You are left to fend for yourself, not a culture of offering proactive support to set you up for success. Weak culture in China as a result of quick rotating Snr. Mgt. and executive team being mainly non -Chinese - here on short term assignments. A focus on packaging & marketing vs quality solutions. (politics wins over integrity and quality)

      The Cons outnumber the Pros, but the Pros outweigh the Cons. Barely. Difficult in NY. Better in other centers.

      Pros

      Emerging markets focus is compelling and lucrative. Fiscally healthy. Weathered the recession quite well. Compensation can be very good depending on the position. Benefits package is excellent: $60/mo. employer contribution for transit, FSA, Comprehensive Medical/Dental, with domestic partner coverage, generous paid leave, 3 volunteer days/year, paid training, 4% 401(k) employer match, pension.

      Cons

      Lost opportunity to capitalize on weakness of bigger banks during downturn. Limited growth potential in NY... advancement usually requires relocation to target markets (Asia, Africa, Middle East). Terrible trading/risk management systems. Strategy from senior management is muddled. IT investment is well below the market standard.
