I was there for awhile

Pros

The store I worked at was very tight-knit and kind of laid back which was nice. People are trying to get promoted all the time and that's cool

Cons

In this position, I had to work a ton of overnights from 8pm-2am to process the shipment. It sounds okay at first and you think: "well that's retail" but when you try to request one of those overnights off they give you a hard time and the team that you were supposed to work with will all call out leaving you to process 60-90 boxes of shipment with one other person. The overnights were always on a Friday night so I could never go out. Then they changed it to 5/6 am every Saturday night so you had Friday night off but had to wake up super early on Saturday. A good place to work, but not as an operations consultant due to your schedule always being booboo. Great for a college student Sometimes as an ops consultant the operations team is not given as much gratis as color people and when asked why they would say: "because you don't work hard enough / don't sell product" - sorry for waking up at 4 am on a Saturday to set up your displays and put out shipment so you have product to sell!

Part Time Cash Wrap

Pros

I was hired on as a part-time cast member for cash wrap in August 2016 for a new store opening in Austin, TX. The 2 week training sessions for the new store opening were an amazing experience, we had incredible brand trainings and so much fun getting to know our cast mates and bond. We had a couple weeks to get the store ready for opening and were still given great training throughout the whole process. They also gave out a lot of gratis (free brand products) which was honestly my favorite part about the job.

Cons

I wish the hiring process had been more transparent about the hours they had available to hand out to a very large team.. only the full-time employees were guaranteed a certain amount of hours and the leftovers were divided among part-time employees (although I was aware of some issues with even full-time managers not getting enough hours to work..). There were some weeks I was not on the schedule at all and this was why I eventually had to quit working there (and also pay was also pretty terrible for the measly amount of hours given.) This is a corporate problem, not my store's management's fault. The store is 'given' hours available to schedule for shifts depending on sales goals reached, which doesn't really take "care and concern" for their employees into consideration whatsoever. They over-hire for their own convenience but don't care about wasting your time or how you're going to pay your bills.

Pros

Gratis, pay, beauty industry knowledge, special events

Cons

- retail hours - upper management is totally out of touch with the stores even though they do monthly visits - unrealistic daily goals and budgets that need to be met - your ability to grow with the company is extremely dependent on your store director or specialist. that being said, if they don't like you on a personal level, you will never advance - more and more of the people at corporate are jumping ship and that makes me worry about the future of this company
