Pros

gratis, creative environment, amazing co-workers

Cons

Being scheduled on-call hours meant that I had to set aside time to work for 37 hours per week (arrange/pay for child care), required to take a lunch with the presumption that I would be staying for a full day, but often got sent home after working only 5 hours. Sephora wants you to be available for full time hours at their convenience and only offers you part time hours most of the time. This means you can't even get a second job to supplement, because they MAY need you in case they have a good week. This does not lend well to the work life balance they tout as important.

Cons

The Sephora I worked at was a Nightmare, the Exempt Management is a Joke to sat the least. They are Racist, and only promote the people who are thier friends. Or thier Clique I should say. Very Unprofessional group of women, gratis goes missing as well. No point in going there if you want to move up the ladder, they will take thier best performers and make very petty comments and make you hate sephora, I also speak for the 7 people who left for the same reasons I did...don't bother trying to report any of it.....they just find more ways to make u miserable since they are. If loss prevention would watch it's cameras it would see the exempt team abuses time by standing around and gossiping about employees all day. Wake up Human Resources....someone needs to investigate the Managers at MOL.

Pros

amazing people, the company culture is great, you will learn a lot working there and it's a great place to start your career in the beauty industry (or as a part time job to supplement your income).

Cons

employees are paid well below industry standard and made to feel grateful for even that ("because we appreciate you so much here's a nine cent raise for the year"). management is a mess and they think by replacing all of their employees their issues will stop...then act surprised when the new group of people get just as disgruntled as the ones who just left--the issue isn't who you hire, it's how you treat them. very little room for growth within the company and they love to make false promises. they expect full time employees to give their entire lives to the company for very little in return.
