Pros

-Making clients happy! -Overall friendly environment and team, some great friendships have risen from this job -Flexible with hours, Work/Life Balance is VERY important -Decent and fair benefits for Full-Timers -A lot of opportunities to learn, Sephora workshops/classes for cast members and clientele -Gain valuable skills -Monthly and/or Quarterly bonus if store goals are met -Quarterly reviews with Store Director to review work ethic and discuss future aspirations (even if it does not involve Sephora, they will work with you the best they can to help achieve your goals) -Daily dose videos of Newness, various how-to's, etc. -Work with brand reps and network/learn more -Leadership shows cast members their appreciation often -Able to use products and apply skincare and makeup from in-store -Gratis!!!

Cons

-Corporate is very arrogant, self-important, and condescending to non-leadership cast members -It's WHO you know, not WHAT you know). Very obvious nepotism and favoritism -ZERO opportunities to grow unless you brown nose and/or become best friends with management -Values of company are not taken seriously -Management will address issues but will not take action to resolve them -Overall too much politics in this workplace (if you are like me and cannot even fake being fake then this is NOT the place for you). It is like high school all over again.

Pros

I really like my co-workers, they are great people who strive to do their best. The hourly rate is decently good for part time retail work. Management is good about making sure you get breaks even for shorter shifts, and they are approachable. Over the holidays management arranges pot-lucks or will cater food over the weekend. Vendors will often bring in food as gifts as well. We receive 40% off Sephora brand discount, and 20% off other products as an employee. When the store performs well we also get gratis pulls, and you get some free products from the World you work in. The store is always busy so work feels like it moves quickly.

Cons

Hours will get cut if the store can't reach it's sometimes unreasonable goals, my team has a swearing problem which feels unprofessional. I really don't like Sephora's return policy, it's too loose and products are thrown away with a huge amount of waste, Any cons associated with retail( standing on feet, customers, nights/weekends,ect), I work in operations and there is a subtle feeling that skin, operations and cashwrap are inferior to color based on that we don't receive standard uniforms or nametags, and we also receive less gratis and no opportunity for service contests. We are also assumed to be thieves by our managers and have to have our personal belongings searched before we leave the store which feels invasive and at times humiliating. There is essentially nothing you can do when you know someone has stolen an item.
