Pros

Overall it's a great company to work for. Benefits are super affordable, time off builds up nicely and for the most part it's a great place to work. But just like any company, the experience can vary from team to team. I have been fortunate enough to be on several great teams and have several great managers. But I know of others that have not had the same experience. Obviously this is a service company so you have to enjoy helping the client and getting their issues taken care of, or know who can. Is the customer always right, no, of course not, but you do what you can and when you can't help them you are usually able to tell them why. You almost always have the support of your management to do what needs to be done go get them taken care of. If you enjoy customer service this is a good place to be.

Cons

Pay is lagging behind the competition....for being such a large company and in the great financial position it's in....continual 3% increases are disappointing.

Pros

Nice environment, excellent benefits package offered, some positions offer work from home, provide unlimited caffeinated products for free.

Cons

It is very difficult to become hired at Paychex. The interview process is senseless and they ask way too many questions, especially "situational question". Interviewers base their hiring decision on your responses to these type of questions. If you answer even one situational question incorrectly or not to Paychex's standards, they will NOT hire you! Even if you are already working there as a contractor, you still have to interview AGAIN while in the position to become hired direct. It can be very stressful with high volume case load and expectation levels can be unrealistic to meet in some positions. And if your supervisor/senior management end up not liking you for some reason, they will find a legitimate way to "fire" you, "discharge", or "let you go".
