The Power of…..Simplicity?

Pros

I have made amazing friends at Paychex- the kind that last well past the expiration date of the job. Great trauma bonding friendships!

Cons

Paychex touts the “power of simplicity” which is ironic considering every single thing that should be simple is made increasingly complicated. You will speak Paychexese- a labyrinth of acronyms so prolific, people just speak in letters. “I put ESR in CPQ and it shows up on the EFS but not the MSA- should I go to my DSM or DSA?” They also change the names of things- so people just add the new name to the original name. *HRPRO for example: “they are on PAS/Premier/HRsolutions/ASO/HR PRO” I often fantasized about being the person that renamed things at Paychex—-dream job??? Maybe. Paychex leadership has the ability to gaslight like nobody’s business. It truly is a master class in corporate spin selling that makes you feel like the issue is you (not Paychex), that Paychex is the best company to work for, that you are in the best division in the company and people are lining up out the door to take your spot. You question yourself constantly and try to just work harder. “It will get better” is some weird mantra people utter in whispers on Webex calls (afraid they are being recorded. Complicated compensation plans- good luck trying to figure out how you get paid Unlimited PTO- that no one feels comfortable taking A company who tells clients how to “win the war on talent and reduce turnover” who lays people off left and right, hiring high school grads so they can pay them less, and who has seriously high turnover because what they were told in the interview doesn’t resemble the actuality of the role…. Touts the flex tech stack and then buys Paycor because….well….the flex tech stack isn’t as good (we know). And yet- it’s hard to leave. It’s hard to leave when you believed what they were saying- but when you do it’s like the biggest freshest breath of crisp, clean air. There is a whole world outside of Paychex- go explore.

Pros

Flexibility with Work/Home Life and awesome Co-Workers

Cons

Management is so disconnected from the Employees, the support needed from supervisors is becoming nonexistent. Yet we purchased Paycor which is mind blowing considering we can't even handle our platform Flex correctly. Team members in different departments are not being held accountable for their lack of work and lack of communication. Other department supervisors cover up their employees who aren't doing their jobs resulting in other teams having to do their jobs.
