Pros

My pros are relevant for why I joined and enjoyed the company, but don't think they are necessarily relevant now. 1. Great pay 2. Growth trajectory 3. Strong partnership with Salesforce 4. Great mid-level to VP management

Cons

1. Senior management makes very short-sided yet major decisions. 2. The company likes to spend frivolously on unneeded things like taking the whole company to Las Vegas and renting out an NFL stadium. 3. It's extremely rich that the company still has the audacity to list Honesty as one of their core values. While sitting in a banquet hall at the Mandalay Bay Hotel with every employee, senior management announced a plan to start spending more conservatively. Ironically, during the same day they had The Blue Man Group perform for us! Less than four months later without giving their cost savings measure any time to take effect and with no forewarning, they make appx. 20% of the workforce redundant in a matter of a couple of days. Many of these positions were back-filled about a quarter later after realizing the harm they'd done to the business. 4. Senior management does not have the fiscal responsibility and foresight to run a stable business. 5. Company culture has been severely damaged over the last year and impacted their once sterling reputation.

Pros

The perks- medical, dental, free lunch. SDRs are talented and smart. Willing to help and provide emotional support which you will need in this role.

Cons

I saw the bad reviews and decided to give a try but it’s been one of my biggest professional regrets. Leadership- management is not fit for their roles and lack the basic requirements it takes to be a leader: empathy, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and plain respect for others. The Director is the most unqualified for the role. The only skill he possesses is the ability to “sell” himself. As a previous Sales person, he understands how to speak beautifully but the veil is quickly lifted when you realize that he has no strategic vision or understanding of how to support his managers. His favorite sentence is “we have failed you and that’s my fault” but he does nothing to course correct. Managers are stretched thin and have little to no time to train their team. One of the managers has no awareness of how to work with others. He constantly complains in front of his staff about his workload and claims he is constantly being yelled at from upper management. He should never be a people manager. You are expected to work like a machine. It’s frowned upon to collaborate with other SDRs- probably because they don’t want people speaking about how incompetent their leaders are- and they only care about their numbers. Stay away- there are better SDR opportunities elsewhere.

Pros

-culture seems like it's great, but it's actually not because it's all fake (don't trust what you see on social media)

Cons

-toxic work environment -managers who weren't fit to lead (moody, passive aggressive, etc.) -lots of harassment that is overlooked, everyone is scared to speak up (they know there will be no support from the company) -HR team is useless in solving any issues, they only care about to company's reputation, not about the people -lower than average pay, almost impossible to hit full commission -career mobility was extremely limited -long hours and quick burn out and turn over -everyone was miserable and morale was always low

At OwnBackup, one of our core values is ‘culture is as important as results.’ This is demonstrated at every level of the business, from our ability to collaborate as a team, to our policies, companywide events, and our company swag. It’s what we consider when we hire, especially when it comes to our managers. We understand that managers contribute to the employee experience in a big way, and offer training and support to all managers across the company, with an emphasis on new managers. We can say confidently that any report of harassment in the workplace is looked into and resolved by our dedicated and qualified team of HR professionals. According to our most recent employee engagement survey, 91% of employees say they are made to feel welcome after joining the company. On average, 92% say they are treated fairly regardless of their race, sexual orientation, or gender. Our compensation is above the industry average, and we experience low employee turnover. We were also recognized as a Fortune Best Workplaces for Millennials and Best Workplaces New York company.
