Pros

Great product which really was unique and best in class. Great opportunity to go to New York and Las Vegas for company events. There are also some real gems in this 'soulless company'

Cons

The micro management and toxic OB 'family' environment broke me. I developed depression and anxiety due to working within the London team. This was down to the management, voicing these issues that had developed caused it to get worse. Even after leaving the company in late 2022 I still suffer. You are spoken to and made to feel like dirt on the bottom of someones shoe. There was also clear favoritism and hints of racism. Avoid at all cost.

Pros

Good people, they portray greatness. Finally gaining the courage to leave as the grass is greener and this is not the “norm”

Cons

Executive leadership doesn’t know how to lead and shifts direction like they change clothes. Work culture is toxic at best where everyone is talking behind your back. They ran off great VPs and upper management just because they questioned the norm. The CEO had (may still have) a very personal relationship which ruined his marriage. They don’t live the values they have. Transparency gets you a ticket out the door! Other Execs are followers and don’t have many unique ideas. Ask how many patents they have from enigineering. Ask what a name change will do (as they try to change the image of the company but not address root issues). Why is attrition so high (don’t let them tell you they are “non regrettable”…they manipulate these numbers. Ask about the partner strategy they have been working on for 3+ years. Ask about the execution of sales, inside sales (they ran off a great leader there a while back). Why are they desperate for additional funds? Why were they only offered around $5/share when the executive team said two years ago they were around $20? They can’t survive in their own and think they will need to “partner” with someone else and get new senior leadership.

Everyone on our team, from managers to executives, really cares about our company's values, organizational health, and success. Our accomplishments are proof of this. We've won various awards, including being certified as a Great Place to Work, named a Fortune Best in Technology Workplace, a Fortune Best Workplace for Millennials, a Fortune Best Medium Workplace, a Best Workplace New York company, a Most Loved Workplace, a Top 100 Best Workplaces Built In NYC, and a Forbes Cloud 100 company. And those are just the beginning as we continue to remain nimble and evolve our organization for scale and continued success.

Pros

The people besides upper management

Cons

Where to start. The company had major layoffs from being misevaluated to raise substantial monies. That being said, why have an office the size you do during the time you do, just to remove the people. They do not up hold cultural values. They stress test everyone into quitting. They don’t value their employees. The C suite does not have a handle on the current situation. Unless you live in Jersey, I would not apply to this job. Things need to change and it is not the people at the bottom or the people they let go. They are smoke screening the entire company with their deceitfulness and lies. Finance backgrounds working in tech, what could we expect? Lies mixed in with a misunderstanding of the industry, equaling a sales front machine using large jargon and lacking real depth.

Thank you for your feedback. OwnBackup as a company has always led with transparency. “We build trust through transparency” is one of our core values as an organization, and we do this with not only our employees but our shareholders and investors as well. We believe our office spaces are imperative and provide the time and setting for valuable conversations to take place and relationships to flourish. Conversation, connection, and relationships are also why we find it so important to have our workforce back in the office. There is simply no replacement for human connection and the culture it produces. The planning, designing, and building of our offices were done years in advance. The decision to eliminate roles was extremely challenging and has affected all geographies and departments today, we remain extremely positive about our future. Our Executive Leadership team is made up of very talented leaders who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from some of the world’s top companies. They are engrossed in the industry, and the current market, and are driving the company forward. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to your HRBP. Thank you.
