Pros

None whatsoever, barring a poor wage that will barely to allow you to pay the bills and feed your family

Cons

There are so many that I don't know where to begin. First and foremost, if you want to join a firm to do 'consulting' work then this is not the place. PCUBED is more of a professional resource augmentation firm (a fancy way of saying 'bodyshop') Rather than tackling client issues in a structured way to solve problems, the firm relies on a few large accounts whereby it simply fills head count. Think of it as doing contract work via a job agency but not getting the benefit of a contractors day rate and having to navigate endless waves of internal politics whilst producing amateur, low quality intellectual property for the firm so it can complete with contractors and fight for scraps in the consulting market. The second point, PCUBED notoriously pays its consultants below market rate. The reason for this though is that they know they are a 4th or 5th tier firm and can't charge fee's that would put them in competition with other actual consulting firms. Rather, the fee's are to complete with independent contractors. The bonus is terrible (in addition to dwindling over the years) and the pension is even worst. Don't expect any meaningful company benefits or pay-rises other than the health insurance. The third point is the issue around trying to navigate the firms internal politics (which are rife), the lack of continuity in relationship to promotions and a distinct absence of any structure both internally and externally. There is a culture of favouritism towards those who blow out the hottest air to boost management egos and go out for drinks and social events with the firm's management. If you aren't part of this secret society or more aptly have better things to do with your own time like see your family, this will adversely impact you and affect your future stature and prospects (though naturally limited) within the firm. There is no discernible pattern or consistency when it comes to staff promotions, management will tell you that you need to meet certain pre-agreed group wide criteria but this is almost always not the case and leads to low morale for hard working employees that produce results and go above and beyond. Low morale and a weak outlook is further highlighted and exemplified by the fact that staff turnover is in the region of 50% yearly. This is shockingly high even for a 'consulting' firm. If you join, it is likely that barring some senior management, the face of the firm will be significantly altered in no more than a year, any longer than this and it's likely that you won't recognise anyone from when you joined. Finally, when you join, or are made an offer of employment it is likely that you will not be made aware of the fact the company has a very short pipeline of work outside of a few major accounts (of which most are shrinking). Sales efforts have been and are almost always futile. I can’t see this changing for the better anytime in the future if ever. A shame as some good people are hired by the firm only to be let down.

Pros

Honestly, it is very difficult to find any pros in the organization with the exception of some of the senior consultants, who were very motivational individuals in a very lackluster environment. I think it is a great place for the chosen few in the popular circle of friends with management and HR. I don’t see it being a great benefit for any other consultants in the lower levels. Perhaps, it is better suited for people with very little experience to get some exposure to the project management world and a small taste of a mediocre consulting firm.

Cons

Where do I start… Turnover is huge problem because many people feel disenfranchised, due to the popularity contest that takes place with management and HR. Corporate HR turns a blind eye to the blatant issues that many consultants face within certain locations (specifically NY). The bonus structure has been specifically made with the most confusing terms and misdirection of goals, so that when it is time to retrieve your bonus, you will be given many bogus reasons on why you will not receive it. It’s an organization that is geared for a certain type of employee….People with families need not bother applying here – work/life balance is a myth. Employees with families, do not last very long, unless they rather be at work with colleagues and drinking with them after work, then with their families. Overall, I felt that I was treated unfairly on many occasions, I saw it happen too many times with many of my other colleagues as well. These are practices that are considered “business as usual” in this environment. I am by no means a disgruntled employee, I left on my own terms, after finding a much healthier and happier environment, where people recognize my potential and respect the value that I bring to the organization, there are flaws but I do not dread coming to work and I feel truly appreciated. No place is perfect, but Pcubed, takes you back to high school and the actual bullies are the “teachers,” the people that are supposed to guide and mentor you on your career path. It is like a suspense-thriller and you slowly discover that the villains, are the ones that you thought were the heroines. This behavior is not only approved but perhaps encouraged, due to how HR neglects to take any actions against the leadership and some lower-level HR personnel, who continually plague the organization throughout the insane amount of turnover and countless complaints launched. If you value your sanity and your self-worth, you should not join this company, as it is a revolving door. My conscious told me to do the right thing and I did not want to stir the pot, I struggled with leaving in peace, since I am no longer with the organization but I felt compelled to speak out and warn others, as I wished I would have been warned. If you decide to take an offer from this firm, you will go at your own risk and remember my words…HR encourages people to write reviews on Glassdoor, as soon as they arrive, therefore you will see many fake positive messages, some can be real postings, as they are most likely employees in the highest chain of the popularity circle of friends and have had much better experiences –After a month or two, you will realize what a horrid place it is and how you have reached the bottom of the barrel in your career.

Pros

You feel like you work directly for your client than the consultancy. Vitality benefit provider adds some nice perks Company is shut the week of Christmas without deducting from your holidays (flex days)

Cons

"We don’t just employ people and deploy you on one client site for years." this is copied and pasted straight from the current job listing - think about this for a second, why do they feel the need to call this out? does this raise any red flags? It should - because this is exactly what they do. They are more of a placement agency and less of a consultancy. What's worse, if you a lucky enough to navigate the favouritism and politics to get promoted, you will be ineligible for promotion again while on the same engagement - but at the same time they won't let you move in fear of losing the account - catch 22? this is the reason many employees leave. Promotions - the company has a culture of not promoting but deferring until next review cycle. They will find any small reason why you shouldn't be promoted, i.e. we need to see more of these capabilities despite everything already done to demonstrate them. Once you finally make it to the next level, you could expect your increase to be roughly 5%, if you're lucky. If no promotion, your year over year might be 1%, at least that what it has been the past couple of years. It's easy to get stuck waiting for "next cycle" as reviews happen every 6 months but results aren't released until 3 months after at which point you might think that it's only 3 more months until you are reviewed again, etc etc etc Funding for training in the UK has been cut, all training is now internal Lack of structure and support from management, coaches, leadership. Their sell on "flat structure" isn't really what it seems as getting time with management and leadership is near impossible, they either cancel or simply don't show up to meetings Did you get pushed down a level from what you thought you should have been hired at? it's common practice, don't take it personally

Thank you for your review. You are correct that we often feel as if we work directly for our clients. We embed ourselves in our client organizations as a force for positive change, in pursuit of delivering valuable outcomes. Training has seen an overhaul with new courses in Scaled Agile, Engineering Agility through IC Agile and Change Management (delivered internally). We will continue to improve on training delivery with courses offered online and on demand so that you still have access to knowledge while on client site. Again we appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best in your next company. Best wishes for 2019.
