Pros

Lockheed Martin provides good pay, benefits, 401k. They do a company match up to a certain % on the money you put into your 401k each week. They also match a certain % of your pay and put it in a separate 401k that is substituted as our pension plan. Being a big company and having jobs all over the country it provides so many opportunities in location, type of jobs. They have leadership programs for less experience employees were they can work about 5 different program and jobs in 3 years related to there jobs skills, which is great to get different experience and to help determine what you want to focus on.

Cons

The politics you have to go through to get something simple done. No pension plan. Poor or no documentation, which makes it a big problem once the system developer is not available.

Pros

Lockheed Martin has fairly flexible hours. As long as you hit your forty hours a week for a full time employee, the distribution of hours among the days of the week doesn't really matter. They also have fairly competitive rates for interns, with the amount of compensation depending on college coursework completed. Interns get to do real work and learn about the way work is done within the company. If you work at Lockheed Martin as an intern, you will pick up new skills and tools as you go. Plus, being able to say that you work for the largest defense contractor (by revenue) is pretty cool.

Cons

Lockheed Martin utilizes outdated technologies and isn't agile and quick to adapt like younger and smaller companies. Since it has a strong connection with the military and the military isn't always good at accepting and handling change, Lockheed Martin stays backwards along with it. Needless to say, for a company of this size and age, bureaucracy plays a large factor and often gets in the way of being productive. The potential for career advancement isn't as great as I would have hoped for. Although programs for bright young employees do exist, the mobility and room to move upwards isn't really there for most.
