Pros

If you work for a government customer, you may have a great one like me that makes the work feel rewarding. The benefits are great. Most people can commiserate on similar level of frustration.

Cons

Senior management does not allow for much growth nor input from their mid level managers. Their culture of Hear and Be Heard falls extremely flat.

Pros

Its chill for most part. Managers are nice and so are people.

Cons

You move up based on years of experience instead of amount of work done.

Pros

Typically a good work life balance, well integrated teams, and managers that help lead and motivate teams

Cons

Upward growth in levels is difficult if you remain on the same team, so typically switching to a new team or program is the best way to promote yourself. Program leadership has been trending downward, with decisions taking away from the original work-life balance that Lockheed promoted,

Pros

Easy Interview and overall good place to learn in the beginning of your career. 4- day work weeks w/ Friday as a flex day.

Cons

Terrible culture when it comes to management. Managers should be evaluated by the people the manage for yearly performance review. This doesn’t happen at Lockheed, which allows for toxic workplaces practices to be left unchecked because HR does not manage these managers out. Too many talented people leave because of this. The company has a problem with retention which ultimately affects knowledge transfer because there are not enough people who can do the job of the person who is retiring. More people retire and not enough new employees come in. Very boomer company. Need to change if they want to remain competitive. Additionally, you need to provide stock options if you want to attract engineers long term. Not competitive for Bay Area.

Pros

If you find the right team and right manager, areas for growth in this position are sky-high. I have been on great teams and not-so-great teams, and it boils down to the culture of the team and how willing they are to help out with teaching, so try to assess that before starting as a test engineer here. Most teams are very helpful with career growth though!

Cons

Hard to get a promotion in-line, This necessitates job hopping, even at the company. Can also be long hours during test campaigns, or long test days.
