Great scientific environment. Exciting science going on, top class equipment.

Cons

Funding for projects depends mostly on political decisions, rather than scientific merit. They can get rid of you extremely easily if your project stops being supported, regardless of your performance.

Cons

-Getting paid less than market rate. -Very difficult to advance in this position. -Old buildings (depending on department). -Too secluded for a quick dash out for lunch. -Parking is hard to find. -Highly dependent on your PI (funding, work-life balance, workplace environment).
