Berkeley Lab and more specifically The Joint BioEngergy Institute is a happenning and energetic environment to do research. The resources are highly robust and it is proficienty operated.

Cons

The process throughout the interdisciplinary environment is quite robust but this approach can hinder quick action. The ability for proficient communication is a must and will help speed technological advancements.

Pros

Very generous benefits, including the UC retirement plan. The environment and culture are also great. A lot of attention to safety. The level of the research is generally high.

Cons

There is no daycare on site. Considering the size of the lab it would be a valid addition to the facility. Funding issues can put a lot of pressure on the staff.
