Dynamic but cut-throat

Pros

- Being owner-managed, it still has an entrepreneurial, innovative feel - If you position yourself well, you get to work on some very interesting projects

Cons

- promotions to senior levels tend to be based on a "tap on the shoulder", as opposed to an individual's qualification for the job - people tend to be seen as resources as opposed to humans - development of people after graduate level is poor - it's in Dartford - the culture is aggressive and rather cut-throat - which gets in the way of people actually being able to do a good job

Pros

None, other than brand image

Cons

- no personal life, politics, no appraisal, managers are very bias(English) - no one to guide you through process, they expect you to know everything from day 1 - lame reasons to accuse colleagues -lame use of success factor and KPI Over all will not recommend anyone to work here

If you're not in the clique...

Pros

Good to have on your CV Some diamonds amongst the rough, but they don't stay for long. Good training programmes to develop your skills that you'd like to explore

Cons

1 word = TOXIC! If you aren't part of the clique, don't expect a promotion for that is the only way of being promoted. Don't expect to be listened to either for issue(s) with management. You will not be believed over your line manager even when you've done a decade as a Laing O'Rourke employee and they've been there only a year. They take on Information Managers that are green and have no management skills whatsoever. No bonuses. One guy came in to take over from Ray, he gave us all a pay rise, 2 weeks later he was out the door and Ray was back....if that isn't clear enough of their outlook on their employees then I don't know what is. Remember Laing O'Rourke.... Employees don't quit jobs. They quit: Bad Managers, Low Salaries, Toxic work environments and a Lack of Recognition. Id like to say Congratulations to Laing O'Rourke, for you have the award of all 4 above, Final Thought: Looks good on your CV but they've ruined my mental health. I've lost all my confidence and am a shell of a person I used to be.
