Pros

Good pension. Access to O'Reilly.

Cons

Not a nice atmosphere. Bullying atmosphere sometimes, particularly from management. The way that one manager spoke to me was awful on one occasion, totally unprofessional. I was aware of several people on PIPs (performance improvement plans) including myself - about 5 people, out of an office of only 50 people. I knew two of these people, and thought they were on a PIP unfairly. I think mine was unfair too. All 3 of us left the company shortly afterwards. Cleaners didn't do the kitchen area. So all developers had a rota. When it was your turn, you had to take everyone's mugs, put in the dishwasher, take them out, etc... everywhere else I have worked has hired a cleaner to do this. Lack of work when I was there. One developer was placed on a manual testing job for about 2 months. He left because of it. He was one of the people on a PIP and told me that he thought he'd been placed on this job because the company wanted him to quit.

Pros

1. Good place to launch your career out of college - helps having a recognised name for the CV 2. Fine canteen. Excellent facilities and clean office environment 3. Depending on your team, there are excellent opportunities to build programming skills 4. Polite and friendly colleagues 5. Good work-life balance - fair flex-time/remote-work options

Cons

1. Limited career advancement - pay is below market-rate (even for the West) and promotions are frozen 2. Poor direction from upper management. Vague targets lead to busy-work and just spinning your wheels 3. Inadequate planning constantly leads to completed work being tossed when it becomes redundant 4. Graduate Programme is very little to write home about 5. Stagnant atmosphere, constant resignations and bleak company outlook dampens motivation

Pros

- Great products and technology - The company is trying to do the right thing but is going about it the wrong way (see comments below) - There is a tremendous energy and desire to be the best car manufacturer and adapt to the challenges the industry faces

Cons

- The work life balance is very poor indeed - meetings being called at 7.30 in the morning; conference calls at all hours; very little recognition for the extra hours spent to achieve tight and demanding timescales and bosses. - Too many people in it for themselves rather than working for the greater good of the organisation. - Too many internal politics, teams not working together effectively. - People don't take ownership of issues and those that do then get lumbered with more to do as they are seen as the "go to" people - Some Senior Managers are unprofessional and do not show a good example to lower levels of management - Processes are far too cumbersome and not fit for purpose. - One office in Gaydon has experienced water shortages and toilets don't flush properly leading to employees feeling that they are not valued
