Pros

Exciting products, work life balance is good, pleasant offices.

Cons

It’s like working for a dictatorship at times. Very quick to launch campaigns around being kind, wellbeing and diversity. Scratch under the surface and the very people who run these campaigns are none of the things they stand for. There is no kindness, wellbeing or diversity, just tick box campaigns to make sponsors feel like they’re doing something. Resource never matches workload, directors aren’t really interested in hearing that. Staff turnover is massive at present, no pay rises for 3 years, if you get bullied by senior staff then your management will turn a blind eye to it and pin it on “passion” Good luck if you think outside the box, that’s definitely not welcome, do as your told and you’ll do just fine, challenge and you’re a nuisance.

Pros

great place, great people. Limited stress, great salary. Nice location. perfect work life balance.

Cons

you need to be friend of an LL4 (or LL5) to grow. Some LL4 have more power than others and the decision making is clear. Lots of internal politics involved. in the end is a game of power show off between department.

Pros

- Worked worked with great people - Had fun when left to deliver projects without JLR politics

Cons

(1) No real leadership. Every level of management 'escalates' (essentially defers responsibility) until you reach the Executive Board. Managers are more concerned with looking good and talking about what car they are picking next on the scheme. (2) To many lifers who are just coasting or have no idea about what is needed to make the business work. They hide behind bad processes or 'escalate' (see point 1). (3) Promotion is not based on ability - it is based on who you know, if your face fits, or if you say yes enough to appropriate people. I have seen too many excellent colleagues overlooked for yes-men/women. (4) Lip service to 'well being' (5) Inflated ego's at all levels of working. Because the management layer is poor quality, people think that they should managers too (anyone can do it mentality cos its so easy) so teams function poorly. The few good managers are not aspired.
