Pros

Exciting products that everyone is passionate about, great to work on a product/project you are excited about. Great benefits package....medical, 10% pension, life/illness insurance, new care every 6-12 months, 25 days hols, £200 p.a. for skills improvement outside work, easily accessible and wide ranging training package without strings. A great place to learn a lot, you can be involved in quite a wide range of tasks at engineer+ level to broaden your experience. Regular contact with senior members of the business. You can leave on time, its not frowned on a large contingent of the workforce do, however expectation is that you've done all you need to do.

Cons

Very political and aggressive culture, alpha male reins supreme and behaviours in other organisations that would be seen as bullying are accepted. Best idea doesn't always win, often its more a case of credibility of person/department that determines success. Extremely siloed business, everyone thinks that their department is the best and everyone else's is to blame for all the issues. Level of meetings is ridiculous, many people have back-to-back and overlapping meetings all day everyday, many of which they don't say a word in but attendance is marked and escalated if you don't attend. leaves no time to get the job done if you also want a life.

Pros

Salary is very competitive for midlands-based jobs Offices are slowly being refurbished to a good standard Diverse workforce at lower levels

Cons

Once you get above Director level, leadership team is made up mainly of white men. No transparency on how senior leadership team is appointed - current trend is for ex-Porsche employees to be appointed to key roles. No transparency around whether internal promotions / moves were considered, and feeling is that these people are brought in as 'jobs for the boys' by ex BMW and ex Porsche C-suite members. Quality of product remains poor - unsurprising given the focus that management put on getting cars to market quicker and quicker without fixing the systemic issues that cause delays to programmes and quality issues. This results in a 'fire-fighting' culture that doesn't allow for proper planning and strategy development. Lower level management are generally promoted based on technical ability / delivery, without any consideration to people-management skills or aptitude. If you get a good people-manager, that is 100% through luck and not judgement.

Expected to work 24/7, hostile work environment, not in touch with needs / wants of the customer, only concerned about the companies bottom line
