Pros

A supportive environment, they truly promote work-life balance, ability to work remotely is a plus and they are making a solid effort to be a company that truly values diversity and inclusion.

Cons

I engaged with several managers that lacked management experience and had trouble with management skills that are absolutely necessary for employee success such as; setting expectations, giving feedback in a timely manner, listening to understand and delivering performance reviews. They are still working out developing processes and guidelines that help with consistency and making sure that all departments are treated fairly. Departments such as sales, information technology and customer service don't always get to enjoy benefits such as unlimited PTO or attending culture seminars, etc. Upper management behaved differently when interacting with employees one on one or in small groups vs. how they behave in company meetings. It was a disappointing experience to meet with men AND women in upper management and learn that they weren't as authentic and kind as they appeared to be when addressing a large group. HubSpot still has a long way to go to become the company they want to be. I hope they are willing to do the work it takes to get there.

Thanks for the feedback and pushes--given that you were likely a part of our team in POPS or a related team in enablement, there's definitely some learning in here for our organization. We are investing a bunch more in manager enablement and training, so hopefully that helps that area specifically. And on project needs, I think that's more than fair for LXDs and ICs more broadly--one of our guardrails in POPS for this year is having a clear DACI for each project to help reduce the scope and inputs on projects to help with just that, so hoping that helps with part of that as well. Appreciate the feedback, and will use it to continue evolving our team and our org. -Katie

Pros

Great pay & benefits , interesting projects and great coworkers.

Cons

High pressure, working in American high performance culture and really really bad American managers & directors throughout UX. Managers aren’t trained to work with different cultures, working standards or even work with people with disabilities. US office treats Dublin office like it’s disposable and a novelty rather than it being a partnership and an equal. Culture code is all smoke and mirrors. They don’t really practice it, it’s just a marketing project they use to sell to get customers to trust their business model. HubSpot is really good at selling a warm and empathetic company that cares but the internal reality is actually more ruthless.

Lots to take in here and sorry to read your frustration. I would strongly push back on us treating Dublin like it's disposable. We took employee rep feedback incredibly seriously as part of our consultation process and have delayed a significant amount of messaging internally out of respect for our colleagues outside the US. There's certainly always more we can do to be more global first and inclusive, and I take that feedback completely on board, but I don't think it's fair to say we treat Ireland as disposable by any stretch. We'll learn from some of the feedback, thanks for sharing it and helping our team grow in the Product Pillar. -Katie

Pros

- Unlimited PTO (not really unlimited, but you can take like a week extra, or maybe two if your manager likes you) - WFH - Flexible hours - Weeks of Rest were cool, but I think they are cutting back on them now.

Cons

They're great at pushing this narrative that HubSpot is such an amazing company. But my experience at HubSpot was the worst experience I've had in my career. - Some of the worst managers I've ever met. People get put on a PIP just because their manager doesn't like them, and HR will support everything the manager says, no matter how ridiculous their claim is. - Unpaid on-call. I was on-call for a week every 3-4 weeks, 24/7. - Team without any camaraderie and with lots of backstabbing. - Lots of legacy code and no time to fix the issues because of the pressure to deliver new features. - Several people on my team regularly worked overtime (evenings and weekends), and I felt like this was also expected of me (it was never said to me directly, but some of the expectations were unreasonable for regular working hours). - You were supposed to estimate your tickets (Jira's) in days of work, and then were questioned why a ticket took a day over the estimate or why you estimated more than it really took. It's ridiculous. Honestly, I feel like this job gave me PTSD. And it was supposed to be an amazing company with great culture and WLB.
