Pros

Office is nice. Product is very good. That's about it.

Cons

This isn’t a place to go if you have experience, it’s a very immature company and the trouble with hiring mostly young people with little experience is it ends up a bit like a school yard. The outcome is some fairly ugly scenes, which are supported by spineless managers which encourages, at best, a lack of accountability and finger pointing, at worst, individual accusations and even worse manager approved bullying. Hubspot is a sweatshop and a cult in Dublin, they live together, work all day together, hangout together in the office late at night, so unsurprisingly promotions happen with in these circles. Benefits are way below industry standards - office bean bag chairs instead of pension contributions. Health care only cover dependents 50% and wages are very low. DB&I is rammed down your throat every day but if you’re a straight white male above 35, you’re wasting your time in Hubspot, opportunities won’t be coming your way. Promotions go to cult members who are wholly unsuited to leadership roles but follow orders at expense of others. There is an underlying narrative dismantle the fact that IT is a mainly male driven industry; my manager would openly admit the he was only hiring women and on another occasion we had to sit through a man bashing 2 hour training about those horrible men in their 'boys club' being unkind to the new girl - delivered by a female... of course. Customers are prioritised over employees, WFH during Covid highlighted this – 6 months before any WFH contribution was made, yet customers were given a free ride at the expense of our targets. My 3 years in Hubspot were a complete waste, people here a so fake and believe their own hype – it is a marketing company after all.

Not a good place to start Tech job

Pros

Maybe free gourmet coffee and smoothie.

Cons

The company were flooded with junior engineers who were just prompted to Tech Lead positions, and know pretty much nothing about software design and constantly exercise poor technical judgements. They don't know how to solve problems many of times, and focus on unimportant and trivia stuff. I would imagine Hubspot is probably the first job for them out of their colleges, and ironically they hold some bad-practice (software design anti-patterns) as golden rules for them.

Pros

Job was remote. Some good teammates here and there.

Cons

Leadership was a complete train wreck. Tech lead role was a huge scam. Favouritism towards lifers and politics will eat you alive.
