      Pros

      Really positive approach to work. Manager's are always trying to incentivise employees rather than only pick negatives. New ideas to processes are encouraged.

      Cons

      Due to it being a new start up, still an attitude of too scared to challenge the way things works, people sometimes do as they're told rather than question why do we do it this way? Could it be better? How could it be better?

      Pros

      Good brand. Commitment to making quality product. Lots of contracts to be delivered, a lot of smart people have been hired this year. Dynamic environment. Give them a bit longer and the new leadership should calm down a bit and be as approachable as they initially announced they would be (before disappearing under 50,000 emails). Lots of potential for it to be a real employer of choice in a few years time. Get the right line manager and you could enjoy it here. People are mostly forward thinking and if you can deliver on your objectives there is flexibility in how and where you work.

      Cons

      Everyone here is too busy. Too busy to execute that best practise they want to, or take the time to plan the strategy they have actually been hired to do. Too busy to do performance reviews. Too busy to eat lunch. I don't regret my time here but salary was about £10k under the market rate and a better offer came along. Some pockets of the business are collaborate and supportive, but some are toxic and many people are stressed. Some people were unpleasant and rude. Directors always seemed either frantic or exhausted. The expenses system was a joke. The pension was poor, the benefits basic, bonus terrible, but HR improved the maternity leave to be market leading which while not relevant was a good sign.

      Pros

      I have been working at Hitachi Rail Europe for 3/4 months now and I can honestly say I have never experienced anything like it before! (positively speaking). I feel to be a HRE employee you need to be dynamic, flexible and innovative. I won't lie and say I came to the job possessing all these values at 100%.But over the course of time the experiences I have been exposed to areas of the business which has allowed me to develop these values. I would say another big pro of Hitachi Rail is the diversity within my team, I find myself connecting and networking with people I may not have usually in day-to-day life! Overall, my time so far at HRE has been great! (not without its ups and downs) - I have been able to grow myself professionally in a very short space of time . My advice however to all those looking to join Hitachi would be :Be prepared to get stuck in... ASAP! The HRE environment is extremely fast paced and requires you to be driven and to be able to implement and drive new processes... and never be afraid to ask!

      Cons

      On a personal level my main con would be the spacing issues! Hitachi Rail are growing at a very rapid speed and the demand for new employees is high! whilst great for the business its not so great for space...nonetheless our Facilities department are looking for new accommodation and are always looking of new ways to facilitate us!
