Pros

When things are going well, an OK company. Salaries, bonuses within range of industry averages.

Cons

Things are rarely "going well" at GSK. They have elevated re-organizations, downsizings, layoffs and RIFs to an art form. People literally go from month to month wondering when their group will be the next one "hit". The political BS is stifling - people are promoted and advanced, not on skill set or capabilities, but on who they know and how they are connected. Worked with someone who was completely clueless and had only 1 from a list of 15 job requirements who was promoted to VP - insane...

Pros

Benefits are good. Money is decent.

Cons

Company values are laudable. They want to be the most trusted pharmaceutical company in the industry. However they have created a toxic culture. Sales people are paid on how well they score on tests and other metics, such as the number of doctors they call on, the percentage of samples they give out and the number of targeted providers they get to programs/meetings. The whole field is cheating because they are scared. They routinely pass around tests; lying (inflating) the number calls made; getting doctors to sign for samples and throwing them away and running telecons that no one listens to. Reps are also subjectively rated by managers. They say the rating scale is not subjective, but it most certainly is. Integrity, honesty & respect, three of the GSK's pillars have never been so compromised. Cheating is happening. Senior management knows it. The just "turn a blind eye" to it.

Pros

Salary, Benefits, Very smart and talented people work there.

Cons

Very little HR presence so no one to go to if there is a problem. If you try to report concerns or issues (including compliance issues) then you experience retaliation from management.
