Pros

There are very good, experienced people in the R&D teams who will teach and mentor others. These people are both from within GSK (help you navigate the politics and silos of a huge organization) and outside (bring new expertise and insights on improvements).

Cons

GSK has done a major re-organization of R&D, changing structures of both systems and the organization at the same time. Outside people have been brought in to lead organization and these people have little connection to the reality of the day-to-day tasks that need to be done and the time it takes. Leadership is clearly driven by revenue, and what commercial says, goes, even if they have little insights into the issues at hand. Many senior experienced team members have thrown up their arms and left due to lack of respect, transparency and resources to do their job. Change brings opportunity, right?Only if you can hang on long enough!

Pros

Peer teams, customer service, development, compensation & benefits

Cons

Executive and middle management, preferential treatment - no amount of money is worth being treated as a stepping stone for others to get where they need to be. Culture is touted but not modeled by executive management.

Pros

Benefits are decent and there is a lot of recognition within the departments. Great opportunities for development. Good place to start a career in Big Pharma

Cons

GSK says they are at market rate with compensation, but they are about 20-30% below what other big pharma companies in the area are paying. Regarding technology, not enough capital to really buy a lot of cutting-edge instrumentation. Gym on site is not free like other companies. Sometimes promotions can be on either end of the spectrum of way too fast or super slow.
