You have highly educated, multilingual professionals—two, three, four languages, years of experience—earning what a Lidl cashier makes, sometimes less. Promotion? Forget it. You march in line like in the army, guided by leaders who themselves have been stomped on and are eager to pass it on. Management and HR? Most don’t care about anyone; you are just a number. Nothing special. Nothing hidden—this is the classic corporate tragedy repeated endlessly. You can feel the atmosphere as soon as you step in: low morale, negativity thick in the air, people showing up with the bare minimum, openly drained, barely pretending. Survival is the daily currency. If it’s your first job and you want a taste of what it’s like to be expendable, sure—apply. Otherwise, do yourself a favor: walk past, move on, or even take the ice cream cart next door—it pays better and treats you with more dignity.
