Pros

Job security. There are little to no repercussions to bad behaviors.

Cons

Pay is almost worst in industry for auto sales. 42-45k on new 2017 pay plan. Change commission structure every year so you get paid even less. This is the 323rd pay cut in a row. Work every Saturday unless PTO is used. Favorites in lead distribution. No team culture with new pay plan. You will be embarrassed to sell some of these cars. You will be paid ZERO dollars for the first SIX cars you sell a month. That's right, ZERO.

DriveTime's culture encourages a low-pressure retail environment to ensure our Sales Advisors are aiding our customers in the best possible ways. A Sales Advisor's compensation structure for 2017 equates to 70% salary-based and 30% commission-based, which we believe provides more stability for our Sales Advisors and even more of an uncapped earning potential. The actual, average first-year earning potential for a Sales Advisor in 2016 was just north of $51,000 - which we believe is a fair wage for our retail staff. Coupled with our new flex schedules and telecommuting benefits, we truly think DriveTime is the industry leader when it comes to car salesmen positions and hope you do too. I encourage you to reach out to your GM or call the Speak Up line to discuss how we can better improve your financial outlook at DriveTime.

Pros

Good place to work after you get your GED. A place to work while looking for another job. If you can kiss it/suck up you will get promoted instantly!

Cons

At Operations, Management is uneducated and will hire you if they like you. Management encourages snitching and then uses it to their benefit. Pay is low. Director(s) have told teams if they call the HELP line they will not be working for the company. Don't voice concerns over high turnover, constant baby showers, potlucks, donations, unbalanced workload and manipulative team leads. Blind lead the deaf.

I'm quite concerned about the issues you brought up here and certainly appreciate you sharing what you have experienced while working in Accounts Payable. I have forwarded your review to our Talent Support team who takes these matters seriously. I understand if you don't feel comfortable calling the Speak Up line, so I'd recommend directly reaching out to TST or a manager you trust to address your concerns. While I can attempt to reassure you that the Speak Up line is a safe way to report these types of issues and you may stay anonymous, I imagine the rumors have tainted that. Thanks again for making us aware of the issues you're experiencing and I truly hope your experience at DriveTime improves.

Pros

Okay pay as a Sales Advisor, room for advancement into management with great pay, it was nice to drive different model vehicles, nice vehicle discounts, laid-back work environment.

Cons

Not enough hands on deck for the work that is required from the Sales Advisors. There's a lot of hurry up and wait your clients may end up waiting 30 minutes to an hour to be interviewed or contracted by a manager or Senior SA. This is not the place for people who want to have a life outside of DriveTime. Absolutely no work life/balance. You can never make plans after work because the time you will leave is typically up in the air. You are not compensated for overtime because you are on a base salary plus bonus and "commission". The potential to make good money is there but you need to maintain a watchful eye on ALL dealership sales as managers who do not pay attention to DETAIL do not ensure you are properly compensated for your hard work. 11 or 12 hour shifts are the norm at certain times of the year (not only tax season). Always bring lunch with you because you may only have a 10-15 minute break for the day. There were times when unnecessary transportation was being offered to potential customers. Having to go above and beyond to get that sale. Depending on who the manager is, there is confusion about lunch breaks being 30 minutes or an hour. FAVORTISM!
