Choosing to work at Deloitte after university is like choosing to send yourself to prison for an uncertain amount of time. Eventually you will get to leave and move on to better paid, more exciting roles where you are respected having secured the seal of big4 approval on your CV, but until then buckle up for the ride. The work you will do after piercing through the smoke and mirrors is incredibly repetitive and you are prevented from moving on to more complicated work where you can develop your skillset until you have served set amounts of time at the firm. Unfortunately because managers are often comprised of staff members who lacked the talent to leave after completing their exams (3 years timed served) the middle management have poor personal skills in general. The reality is the big4 pay is so comically below competing fields of finance they cannot retain the best staff members. The large office floors are filled with phone meeting rooms, the irony is most of these are constantly occupied with people on the phone to recruiters trying to leave. I don't think any review is going to put someone off working at Deloitte, or any big 4, it's a good stepping stone into higher paid exit roles, but it really can be a miserable place to work. The day you get out is an incredibly happy day.
