Pros

Flexible remote policy (for now), offering some degree of work-life adaptability. A good product (hotjar, not CS platform which UX/UI is terrible) with interesting technology at its core. Some exceptionally kind, hardworking, and smart colleagues across the company (hotjarians).

Cons

Post-acquisition, Hotjar has been systematically dismantled by Contentsquare, stripped of everything that once made it a beacon of innovation and employee satisfaction. The transition to corporatism is almost complete, with a leadership that is seemingly oblivious to the widespread discontent among its ranks. The CEO, far from being the inspiring figurehead a tech company needs, has become emblematic of everything wrong with the tech industry's leadership stereotypes—accused of sexism and a cavalier attitude that dismisses genuine concerns with a wave of the "I'm French" excuse. As for Mo, the trust once placed in him by employees has evaporated following a sell-out that appears to have been motivated more by personal gain than concern for Hotjar's future or its staff. Engineers and other key talent are fleeing in droves, a testament to the toxic environment and lack of faith in the company's direction. Their departure signals not just a loss of manpower but the disintegration of Hotjar's soul. I'm witnessing a mass exodus, as the brightest minds seek refuge elsewhere, leaving behind those of us who feel trapped in a sinking ship. The realization hits hard—I feel like a sucker for not having given my notice yet, tormented by the notion that the smarter ones have already escaped this corporate dystopia. In an era where employee benefits are being slashed, the company's leadership spares no expense on opulent gatherings, a glaring contrast to the austerity imposed on its workforce. This extravagance is a slap in the face to employees who once took pride in Hotjar's commitment to its people. The irony of extravagant corporate retreats amidst a backdrop of cut benefits and austerity measures is a bitter pill to swallow. It underscores a leadership that prioritizes its own extravagance over the well-being of its people.

Thanks for the feedback, I’m really sorry to read of your poor experience with your integration into Contentsquare. Adapting to a different company than the one you originally joined and a different culture can be difficult. We are steadily working on advancing with our integration efforts of the Heap and Hotjar teams, with an even more concerted focus on the employee journey and experience and have recently hired a new member of our People Leadership Team to lead this effort. Despite your feelings, we remain committed to improving the employee experience and hope that all employees feel comfortable coming forward with feedback and suggestions along the way and encourage you to do so as well.

Pros

- Unlimited PTO, and everyone really does use it

Cons

- Culture: If Michael Scott ran a fraternity headquartered in Paris - DEI: Head of DEI was hired and disappeared within months without comment, never to be replaced. - Career Development: Acquisition left 1000 employees wondering for 2 months what their roles would be followed by very messy layoffs where it is rumored they accidentally dismissed people they still needed. Employees don’t know their salaries for 2024-25 or how they would even pursue the promotions they were expecting prior to M&A. - Product: Clients are exhausted and confused by constant changes and customer success is set up to fail. Unclear if any market research is done; everything eventually ends up scrapped. - Executive leadership: loves to announce big, shiny new change > tons of runway to plan but somehow zero plan > disastrous launch employees pay the price for > no retrospective. Rinse, repeat. - CEO: "Yay!!!! We are on a rocket ship! IPO! Trip to Punta Cana! Just kidding, cancel the trip. Now we are on a sinking ship. Wait, now just you are in a sinking lifeboat to cover up our poor decision-making. Bye! Everyone else, be grateful you have a job and roll out our unrealistic plan with no information or resources! Raises? We don't have that information yet. Now back to work :]"

Pros

- There is nothing positive about this company, this was the biggest mistake of my life

Cons

- Absolutely no culture - CEO is arrogant and egotistical - No support or training - More than 10 people left or quit within 5 months, so how can there be so many positive reviews. Keep in mind the entire NY office had 16 people. - Product is a joke

Thank you for your candid feedback on Glassdoor. We greatly appreciate every opportunity to improve, for we believe that building a great team and culture is curated over time and will be an ongoing process. We understand that there were some management shifts and attrition at the beginning of the year that may have been difficult to experience and forced our team to make some tough adjustments. We believe that we have hired strong new talent and begun to work on solid initiatives that will create positive changes in the long run that will lead our team members and business to greater success. We are also sorry to hear that there was a lack of support and training while you worked at Content Square. We are currently working hard at creating more opportunities for our teams to grow themselves professionally with the help their managers. Additionally, we are developing career paths for all roles to create a clear avenue for our employees to assess where they need to grow to get themselves to that next step in their career.
