Pros

Remote work is all I would say is a pro

Cons

Pay is horrible, constant micro management recording and watching everything all the time, Needing to follow a script for a robot and if you say the worlds slight out of order you’re spoken too it’s a horrible environment and not worth the pay for the remote freedoms

Not a good culture

Pros

Benefits are good for full-time employees. Commission sales jobs are decent starter jobs for young people.

Cons

Very WOKE company and it is forced on you as an employee through required training and constant reads in newsletters. They want YES men/women and DO NOT want your opinions or ideas. Employees are scared to offer opinions or truth, even on anonymous surveys. High turnover and quick to fire even good employees. Tenure is more important than skill for promotions. Upper management is out of touch and playing catchup to competition. Store management goes unchecked due to no visits from corporate leaders and regional manager visits 2-3 times a year only. Culture is to always be inputting observations in writing for almost every employee. These come across as write-ups and associates feel like their jobs are always a step away from termination.

Overall Great Company

Pros

Working as a Sales Manager at CarMax has been a rewarding experience. I’ve had the opportunity to lead a team, support associate development, and help create a positive customer experience in a values-driven, fast-paced environment. There are a lot of great resources and support when it comes to benefits, and the time off policy is generous and well-structured, which makes a big difference in work-life balance. .

Cons

My biggest concern is the pay gap between salaried managers. Despite having the same responsibilities, there’s no clear structure for raises based on individual performance. This can be discouraging for those who go above and beyond without recognition or opportunity for advancement. More transparency and performance-based compensation would go a long way. It would also be beneficial if we made a salary and bonused more comparable to the same role at other companies in the industry.
