Pros

Can't really think of any.

Cons

This company is a joke. They've got everyone fooled into believing their a good company. They don't care about their employees, especially sales consultants. The pay for sales people are horrible.

Pros

If you are seeking tuition reimbursement, and can keep that in mind, you might be able to stand the militaristic strictly regulated dictatorial company culture. If you enjoy purchasing crappy, Made in China, navy blue poorly designed clothes that you're forced to wear, you may fit right into their cookie cutter regimens. If you have no imagination and enjoy following the same strict procedures day after day, while constantly being observed, you'll enjoy endless boring days at CarMax.

Cons

Management that obviously never even read a comic book on effective management.

Pros

One of Fortune 500 Mag's top 100 companies to work for for 7 years in a row, and it shows. They provide ample training and great benefits and perks. They have matching 401k contributions up to 10% (from what I remember), PTO and sick time accruals for both FT and PT employees. Great working environment and culture in every department. Everyone is there to help one another and very supportive. They love giving recognition and when there are opportunities for improvement, they make a comprehensive roadmap to success.

Cons

Due to CarMax only selling used cars, the customer base is wide and some of the customers can be unsavory. I have had more rude customers than I can count. It seems that even though CarMax has a specific process, customers treat consultants and a true, slimy, used car salesman. In the business office and auction offices you have to deal with an EXTREMELY fast paced workload and simple mistakes can cost the company a lot of money, so naturally they crack down on all things compliance.
