Worst place to work

Pros

Nothing to mention at all.

Cons

Worst place I have worked in 35 years. Boys club is so evident as is nepotism and favoritism. I was told in interview that promotion is based on meritocracy but in reality that is really not the case. They promote their friends who are men! Anyway if it can be avoided dont bother to work here - they knock your confidence, they only work on BAU projects - no consulting unless you are lucky and they dumb you down by training in house which isnt always passing on the correct knowledge.

Pros

- absolutely amazing work culture - some of the best benefits (for health, mental health and financial wellness resources access) - great people to work with (some of the best work experiences)

Cons

- unstable job . Everytime you are on bench , you have a risk of loosing the job and 90% you most likely will -current mandate of 3 days a week to be present in client or office (though strictly not being monitored)

Thank you for your review and we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed working with your Capco colleagues and the great working environment. The nature of consulting means that employees may spend time on the ‘bench’ in between projects and this is accounted for as part of our business planning activities. Given the challenging economic climate many businesses faced last year, including Capco, this unfortunately meant that we had to make a reduction in our workforce. These decisions were only made after careful review and consideration, and once we had worked closely with those impacted along with their coaches and the business to exhaust all options for placement. We will continue to foster our special culture to ensure that Capco remains a great place to work for our people.

Toxic environment

Pros

Honestly, I can't find anything.

Cons

I worked at CAPCO for only a year and half and it was my shortest time ever spent with a company and the main reason was the extreme toxic environment. The competition amongst consultants makes the company extremely dysfunctional and demotivating. Egos are at the same time inflated and fragile, making cooperation the rarest thing you'll see in the office. To exemplify, I was present when a colleague was in a call with a most senior consultant to get advices on a specific project. While the senior consultant was explaining something, my colleague mentioned he had had a problem (about the audio). Immediately, the senior consultant shouted (yes, shouted!) that if he was having a problem with anything that was being presented, he could ask someone else and stop wasting everyone's time. And hung out. That is how fragile and inflated egos can get over there. Additionally, in this 1.5 year, I had 3 different managers and 2 CEOs, so needless to say how lost we all felt.

We strive to foster a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative culture. In fact, consulting is about bringing the best ideas and different skillsets together and working as a team to deliver outstanding services to our clients. Consulting is project-based which means that employees may have different managers throughout the year. This is one of the reasons employees are assigned a coach, someone who works alongside the individual’s manager to provide career development support and advice on an ongoing basis. At a regional level, our APAC Managing Partner has led the region for a number of years and has a long tenure at Capco. At a global level, we recently had a change in CEO following over a decade of our previous CEO leading the firm. Our new CEO also has a long tenure at Capco and many years of experience in the industry.
