Pros

Small company with access to senior leadership

Cons

Very little professional growth opportunity. They'll hire you for finance, banking, etc. -- then put you on a BS technology project that has very little to do with finance. "Consultant" could be an MBA with 7 yrs of experience -- or some kid 1 year out of undergrad.

Pros

Lots of smart people with great work ethics, experience and diverse backgrounds.

Cons

I had joined Capco to be part of an industry leading niche player that focuses exclusively on interesting financial services initiatives. What I actually joined was a generic consulting firm that has no clear direction, poor leadership that has been unable to penetrate new clients and a highly political environment. if you are fortunate enough to be aligned with one of the so-called "practice leaders" you are generally set. Project opportunities are typically generic project management/PMO type or staff augmentation type roles. Strategic work the firm used to be known for (and what originally attracted me) is non-existent. Client base has dwindled and there is high concentration of people at only a handful of clients. Many if the practice leads/partners came from BearingPoint - yes, the same firm that went bankrupt - and now they are leading Capco in the same downward direction.

Pros

Intense engagements at relatively senior level within financial services companies present great networking opportunities. Among Capco employees there is an impressive percentage of very experienced specialists from within FS industry and there are numerous opportunities to learn from others on assignments. Great opportunities within organization for those with sales abilities. Company is experiencing rapid growth at the moment and has not yet adopted all the bureaucracy of larger consulting companies and is very competitive.

Cons

Deceiving compensation package - although base salary is slightly above average, the total package is not competitive for the delivery side of the organization; bonuses' structure (verging on being hostile to delivery employees) and amounts motivate to under perform. Client project placements for employees are remotely related to their competence areas. Lack of noticeable long term investments into the company or employees create an impression that investors/partners keep their suitcases packed and ready to sell / re-sell company any second. Currently Capco is not a place to plan your long term career at.
