Pros

People are very approachable and there is a strong desire to encourage a sense of community. They have a large number of clients and ongoing projects so bench time is limited. Pooling of knowledge internally is encouraged.

Cons

I joined Capco with previous industry experience both as a perm and contractor as i thought there would be a good opportunity for training and devlopment as well as getting to work on some interesting large scale projects. I could not have been more wrong. The approach of the company sadly just seems to be one of getting bums on seats, no mandatory training of any kind given before being put on your first assignment. You will most likely get put in amongst a team of contractors at a large institution and told to get on with it. Any training you will get the opportunity to take is internal and of mediocre quality. The company will not fund any external training or qualifications. The calibre of individual at the various grades within the company is so inconsistent it is laughable. You have employees who would be little more than grads anywhere else - 4/5 years experience out of uni - who are at Principal Consultant grade simply due to being with the company 2-3 years, yet there are people with 10-15 years industry experience getting bought it at lower grades. All very bizaare. particularly given the absence of any internal training programs to develop employees. This seems to be due to the management taking a very short termist approach but must surely make the company look ridiculous to outsiders. The ex-Accenture dominance at the management level will no doubt prove an obstacle to anyone hoping to rise high within the firm.

Pros

Capco has a true entrepreneurial culture. If you are one of those who needs hand holding at every stage STAY AWAY!!. You are joining a management consulting and not a Big 4 Advisory practice so you need to on top of your game all year round. (1) Pay better than the big 4. Check out Glassdoor salary surveys for yourself. (2) Bonus structure similar to FS Companies. (3) Generous Vacation Days. Best in the industry (4) Vacation Bonus. You get $1000 bonus if you take 2 consecutive weeks of vacation :) (5) 10k/Year Training budget for every employee to take external training (6) True meritocracy, Performance review 2 times a year. so you do not wait an additional year to get promoted if you came close the last cycle.

Cons

(1) Since the Capco is small projects are concentrated around a couple of key accounts. (2) Job stability can be an issue if you do not build an internal network soon enough. (3) Lot of Travel. Most of the project are in Mid-Tier cities.

Pros

Good variety of Retail and Capital Market based projects

Cons

Promotion is slow, salary is weak when compared to piers and lack of culture. Poor HR and operating procedures means that there is a lack of communication between management and employees. The place had a sense of being little more than merely a pool of contractors with a facade of a management team skimming the profits from the high rates and hard work. Projects were often undersold meaning employess were expected to work 90+ hour weeks and for little reward and recognition.
